Hello everyone. It's really nice to see you again! Today's post is especially dedicated to SPM leavers. So if you've just finished SPM and still waiting for the results to be out, then DO READ THIS.
You know, after I finished my SPM, I didn't really spend much time thinking about what I wanted to do in the future. I only prayed to get straight A's like it was my only goal in life but I never thought about what would happen next.
I mean, I did have goals that I wanted to achieve after SPM like I wanted to study abroad, meet Niall Horan from One Direction and finally get married with him. But I never thought about how to achieve those goals and that's the whole purpose of this blog post! After almost 5 years leaving high school, the only thing that I regret not doing until this day is not putting so much effort on applying for a scholarship!
If you get straight A's for SPM or your results are enough to be qualified for a scholarship, DO PUT IN YOUR BEST EFFORT TO APPLY FOR A SCHOLARSHIP NO MATTER HOW DIFFICULT AND HOW MUCH INFORMATION AND DOCUMENTS THEY WANT YOU TO SUBMIT. JUST DO ANYTHING THAT THEY ASK YOU TO DO. GO SCAN THOSE DOCUMENTS, GET THOSE GOVERNMENT OFFICALS' STAMPS AND SIGNATURES, JUST GET. THEM. DONE. AND DON'T PROCRASTINATE JUST TO FIND OUT THAT THE APPLICATION IS CLOSED THE NEXT DAY.
You may not see it now, but once you grow older and see your friends get scholarships and get to study abroad, that's when you're gonna regret not putting so much effort on getting a scholarship. The process to get a scholarship may seem tedious, but it's gonna be worth it. TRUST ME.
It's because I'm one of those people who did not put in so much effort. Most of the scholarships I saw during my time were for those who wanted to do Science, Engineering and Accounting. None of those courses excites me and that was enough to put me down. That demotivated me to even look for other scholarships that were really meant for people who wanted to do Social Science like me.
MORAL OF THE STORY.
DON'T BE LIKE ME.
Now that I'm more mature to realize my past mistakes, there is no turning back. I don't get to study abroad, I just get to see my friends' instastories studying abroad. How do you think that's going to make you feel in the future? Sad? Ain't no reason to be sad. I was the one who wasted my chances to get a scholarship. It's not that I did not want a scholarship, I just thought that having to scan all those documents were hard because I did not have a scanner at home and I did not know that we could scan our documents at the printing shop haha
However, getting a scholarship ain't easy. If you have tried your best but you still don't get accepted, it's okay. You can still apply for a scholarship when you pursue your degree later. After I've finished my diploma, I really wanted a scholarship for my degree because I didn't want to prolong this feeling of regret. I then applied for all the scholarships available on afterschool.my. However, as I said, getting a scholarship isn't as easy as it seems. I must say I got quite excellent results for both my SPM and diploma alhamdulillah, I was also active in curriculum at my university, I thought those were enough for me to be short listed for a scholarship. But well, Allah knows best :) At least I've tried my best. It is better to have tried your best but you don't succeed than knowing that you could've tried your best but you didn't. So please, work hard on getting those scholarships. Don't waste your chances.
